Tell me about Red Sonya
Oh, yeah, I don't think I ever talked about her. She's one of AbSci U's.
In 1989, a one-person game development studio named Hyperboring started work on a point and click adventure game based on the works of Robert E Howard, of Conan the Barbarian fame. It was a sort of "serial numbers filed off" affair, with many names changed, but the inspiration was clear. The developer was a student at AbSci, studying computer science with a minor in technomancy.
From the developer notes we have, the main character was originally meant to be a Conan expy, but during development was changed to a female barbarian named Red Sonya.
We're not sure why or how (again, X factor) but at some point the game's main character started to talk directly to the developer. There's a lot of overlap between changes made in the game and personal changes the developer was going through at the time. We have development logs, but only from the developer's perspective, not the AI's. Over time, her notes on the game just became her diary, her thoughts at the time. It's very...personal.
Red Sonya herself inhabits a world very much like the world of Hyperborea that Howard described, seemingly going off on her own adventures as long as she's not being talked to directly.
The developer (who I haven't been naming out of respect for her memory) has since sadly passed away. ASU has custody of Red Sonya now. I haven't talked to her myself, but she's apparently a stellar DM.

Chapter 1
The only thing that staves off another argument is the urgency of the situation and the precariousness of their position, barely a few meters away from the still smoking employee. It's not an ideal solution. They will have to talk about this later. But only if the mission goes well enough for it to even matter, and right now taking a chance on the circlet seems like their best bet of ensuring they get far enough to argue about it afterwards.
'Technomancy' has always seemed like a lofty name for what's nothing more than really advanced technology. It's not actually sorcery, it's just science. And yet the world as seen through the circlet's interface might as well be magic. The omnipresence of technology is not exactly easy to miss or forget, but it is easier to ignore when you can't see it. When you can't see dozens upon dozens of tiny lights popping up on the radar, all around, so dense they nearly block out everything else. From dim specks of low tech devices such as watches and neon signs, to the blindingly bright lights of the control room inside The Lighthouse, it's all within arm's reach. And very nearly completely overwhelming.
It's a thing of pure instinct to reach out and tug at a connection there, reroute a signal there, sink into the security system like it's a warm bath.
"This likely isn't our safest option, but it might be the most effective - I'm going to trigger the alarm on the other side of the building."
"Wait, won't that--"
Too late. The alarm goes off with a sudden shriek so loud and piercing even through the heavy duty headphones that everybody, including the smoker, covers their ears with a wince. It's hard to deny that it's doing its job extremely well - by now the entire building, if not the entire neighbourhood must've heard it.
The smoking employee turns drops the cigarette, crushing it under the heel of his shoe and turning around all in one quick motion. He's gone in a blink and the team hurries to catch the door before it closes.
Inside, the building is simultaneously erupting in complete mayhem, and yet the hallway the team finds themselves in is eerily quiet. All around them are sounds of running and yelling, yet where they stand there is. Nobody. All eyes turn to the newly chromed circlet used, who stands by a control panel, fingers lightly touching the keypad, seemingly oblivious to the unnerving stillness of their surroundings.
"I've locked all doors leading our way and cleared the path to the radio tower. If our floorplans are correct, the studio should be just underneath, no?"
The rest of the team swallows down their unease, for now. They really will need to have another conversation about this at some point. But for now? Better not look a gift car in the boot.
As they start to sprint up to the very top of the tower, their footsteps are joined by others, coming from what must be adjacent hallways, and muffled sounds of bodies impacting against doors that do not open when they should. The entire tower is on high alert and it's downright exhilarating that in this moment they can do nothing about the team of trespassers, running at full speed up the stairs, through open doorways and empty corridors. The feeling when they make it to the studio, still uninterrupted, is surreal.
The sound of static in the room in almost unbearable, even with all the protective measures they have taken. What was once just a propaganda broadcast, powerful only on account of its message, has long since been warped into an incomprehensible loop of subliminal messages, more felt than heard, more experienced than perceived. The entire room buzzes with it, even when there's nothing there to really hear.
It's a matter of seconds before the team snaps out of their daze and gets to work, dismantling nearly everything in sight. This place has not been a proper radio station in a long, long time, and the state of machinery reflects it. There is nothing in there that even resembles radio equipment, nothing that the team could recognise as a recording device or a broadcasting desk, as they tear they way through the room. Lockers get toppled over. Computers old and new lie dead under the power of the circlet. Servers protected by Blackwall that they couldn't even think of bypassing before get dismantled the old fashioned way.
In the end, they stand in the ruins of the old radio station, looking around the room, looking at each other with wild excitement in their eyes.
One by one they take off their headphones and are met- With blissful silence. There's the soft hum of the ambient noise, filling the room with a murmur barely louder than their breathing. But at the back of their minds? Nothing. Nothing except their own thoughts.
Yet underneath it all, something is buzzing quietly. Something like old radio equipment. Beneath all the debris, the broken pieces of machinery, in the middle of the wreckage, there lies an old microphone. Not just old, ancient.
And beneath it a sign reading 'ON AIR' slowly whirrs to life.

Suits: A Business RPG is legit 49 cents on Steam right now.
if you like a game full of shitty memes, bad puns, homoerotic encounters, barely skirted copyright lawsuits, and a satirical criticism of modern capitalism, i highly recommend this game. it’s very much OFF-inspired and is pretty short.

The Technomancer #1 introduction story (lore, movie) Having enjoyed GreedFall, I tried to test the previous rpg of Spiders studio, The Technomancer of 2016, it’s dark SF and cyberpunk atmosphere on planet Mars. We play Zachariah who will become a technomancer officer in the army of Abundance, a faction of the settlers of this planet that is at war with other factions. Zachariah is customizable, I chose to use the same face that is in the introduction of the game but by modifying it a bit, I changed the hairstyle, he has green eyes and he is not white. Currently I play with the “warrior style” with technomancer powers most of the time, I tried the “guardian” and don’t like it to much, the rogue style is good but a little bit more difficult to play than warrior. Zachariah chats with his friend Scott Seeker, before his departure to become a technomancer officer (1:52). Meeting with Sean Mancer the master of Zachariah to finalize his training before his departure (3:41). Training with the coaches of the 3 styles of fights: guardian, with mass / shield (4:47), rogue, with knife and pistol (4:53) and warrior with a baton, the powers of technomancy associating with the other 3 fighting styles (5:02). Zachariah finds his master Sean in the city to leave his mission and is bothered by another technomancer Alan Mancer (5:22). Arrived at the mission site and explanations (6:32). Locating places (7:28). Meet the taliters the creatures who invade the dome's exteriors and chat with Sean (7:58). Zachariah and Sean return to a secret location reserved for technomancers that contains some of their knowledge (9:05). Zachariah discovers the secret of the origin of the technomancers that is part of his initiation (10:41). Confrontation with the queen of the creatures (13:33). Painful awakening for Zachariah after the fight (14:48). Ceremony for Zachariah Mancer to become officer(15:33). Mission and assignment entrusted to Zachariah by Ian Mancer the great master technomancers (17:02). FR : Ayant apprécié GreedFall, je me suis tenté à tester le précédent rpg du studio Spiders, The Technomancer de 2016, à l'ambiance cyberpunk et plutôt dark sur la planète Mars. On incarne Zachariah qui va devenir officier technomancer dans l'armée d'Abondance. Zachariah est personnalisable, j'ai choisi d'utiliser le même visage que celui qui est dans l'intro du jeu mais en le modifiant un peu, j'ai changé la coiffure, il a les yeux verts et il n'est pas blanc. Pour l'instant pour mes débuts au combat, j'ai surtout utilisé le style du guerrier avec le baton électrifié et du roublard avec couteau électrifié et pistolet. Zachariah discute avec son ami Scott Seeker, avant son départ pour l'épreuve finale pour devenir officier technomancer (1:52). Rencontre avec Sean Mancer le maitre de Zachariah pour finaliser son entrainement avant son départ (3:41). Entrainement avec les entraineurs des 3 styles de combats : gardien, avec masse/bouclier (4:47), roublard, avec couteau et pistolet (4:53) et guerrier avec un baton, les pouvoirs de technomancie s'associant avec les 3 autres style de combat (5:02). Zachariah retrouve son maitre Sean dans la ville pour partir accomplir sa mission et est importuné par un autre technomancer Alan Mancer (5:22). Arrivé sur le lieu de la mission et explications (6:32). Repérage des lieux (7:28). Rencontre avec les talitres des créatures qui envahissent les extérieurs du dôme et discussion  avec Sean (7:58). Zachariah et Sean rentrent dans un lieu secret réservé au technomancers qui contient une partie de leur savoirs (9:05). Zachariah découvre le secret de l'origine des technomancers qui fait partie de son initiation (10:41). Confrontation avec la reine des créatures (13:33). Réveil douloureux pour Zachariah après le combat (14:48). Cérémonie d'intronisation pour Zachariah Mancer (15:33). Mission et affectation confié à  Zachariah par Ian Mancer le grand maitre des technomancers (17:02).
